Herkimer Democrats
Turning Herkimer County Blue One Election at a Time
My name is Tim Klock and I currently reside in the town of Herkimer in Herkimer County. My wife Linda and I have been married for over 25years, we have raised two wonderful daughters who have excellent careers, our oldest daughter Lorraine is currently a NY state correctional officer and was just recently promoted to Investigator. Our youngest daughter Courtney has a wonderful career in teaching and is currently a daycare teacher, she is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting and fishing, I have always been supportive of their careers and will continue to do so.
I was born and raised in Herkimer and I attended Herkimer School and Graduated in 1979. I entered the US Army where I served 4 years on Active duty as a Medical specialist. I was honorably discharged in 1983 and returned back to my hometown in Hekimer.
My background in Law enforcement is over 30 years beginning in 1983 when I started my career with the Village of St. Johnsville Police Department, I furthered my career by transferring to the Town of Webb Police Department and then to the City of Little Falls Police Department. After working with the Little Falls Police department for about 6 years an opportunity with the Oneida Nation Police Department was offered to me, I took this job to learn a new kind of Law enforcement; although I enjoyed this I found that I missed traditional police work. I applied and was offered a job with the Oneida County Sheriffs Office and accepted a position with them in 1996. I retired from the Oneida County Sheriffs office last May at the rank of Investigator where I was assigned to the Forensic Unit as a Crime Scene Investigator.
During my 30 years of Law enforcement experience I have worked in different agencies from a Village to a Town and then to a small City. I have seen how each agency operates and have learned what types of things work and things that do not work as well. I have been involved in several types of Investigations that include Major Crimes, Burglaries, Arsons, Deaths that included Homicides and manslaughters; I have been involved in three major cases within Oneida County that included the deaths of three Police Officers.
I believe my experience and the working knowledge of the different types of Police agencies I have worked with has given me a great sense of understanding and ideas of what can make a department run efficiently and professionally. Having been involved in Law Enforcement for over 30 years, and a military veteran serving 11 years, I have long worked for positive change. I now feel that the time has come for me to seek elected office. I want to bring fresh ideas and positive solutions to Herkimer County by running for Sheriff. I have always been very concerned about public safety. I believe there are workable solutions available that will enhance a renewed sense of professionalism within the Sheriff’s Office. I would like to see a restored trust so that the residents of our county know they are being served with integrity. Another important issue is the current record keeping and accountability. This is an issue that needs to be reviewed and corrected and bring it forward to the 21st century. We need to build a productive working relationship with the county legislature so that issues impacting public safety are addressed effectively and efficiently. This also includes the current issue regarding the correctional facility. It's for these main reasons that I have decided to offer the voters of Herkimer County a real choice in this election.
